7 Days Journey of the Wildebeest Tour – High End
About this tour
This very special safari is focused on the Great Migration in the Serengeti. You will spend at least four nights in the park, with two nights in the central area and two nights where the migration is located during that time of year. We have designed this particular tour so that you can finish the safari in the most remote location within the Serengeti before flying to your next destination. We can also arrange for you to return to Arusha by land.
Arrival (See Getting There for more details)
You’ll be collected from the airport.
Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.
Day by day itinerary
Day 1: Lake Manyara National Park
You will be picked-up from your hotel at 8:00am and start your beautiful journey across the Great Rift Valley for a full-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park. Although small in dimension (205 sq. miles), this park features breathtaking scenery and is famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs, mahogany trees, and its growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents of this park also include giraffes, elephants, impalas, and a large number of buffaloes and hippos. Game drives along the lake provide stunning photo opportunities of giraffes and buffaloes in the foreground and the lake in the background. Some extra tours are possible, including a bike tour or a boat excursion. In the afternoon you will return to the camp for dinner.
Note: You can replace this park with Tarangire National Park or add an extra day and visit both.

Ngorongoro Crater is considered one the wonders of the natural world. The crater encompasses 102 sq. miles and has 2,000 ft high walls, making it a virtual Noah’s ark that features almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It’s one of the very rare locations on the whole continent where you can see the black rhino. Seeing the Serengeti for the first time is an unforgettable moment. As you progress into the park, you will see why the name means “endless plains” in the local language. The park comprises 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) and its plains stretch to the horizon, defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration of two million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and all kinds of antelopes.
